The Ministry of Energy, its Department and associated Statutory Bodies held a “Doa Kesyukuran, Sembahyang Fardhu Asar and Sembahyang Sunat Hajat ” ceremony in conjunction with the 74th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni AlMarhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The event was held on 29th Zulkaedah 1441 H corresponding to 21stJuly 2020 at Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. Present at the ceremony as the Guest of Honor was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy.

Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy); Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power); senior officials from the Ministry, the Department of Electrical Services; Safety, Health, Environment and National Authority (SHENA); and Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam.

The ceremony began with a mass Sunat Hajat prayer and Doa Kesyukuran led by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran, Mosque Affairs Officer of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. The event was later concluded by a Fardhu Asar prayer led by Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Syariff Wafiuddin bin Jemain, the Assistant Head Imam of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. The event was held in compliance with the guidelines set by Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah on the occasion of His Majesty’s 74th birthday, highlighted major milestones in the country’s downstream energy sector, particularly the export of products from the oil refinery and petrochemical plant at Pulau Muara Besar and the construction of the Brunei Fertilizer Industries’ Ammonia and Urea Plant. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan had also consented to the establishment of the Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam as the Ministry of Energy’s technical arm to strengthen the regulation of the oil and gas sector. In line with His Majesty’s titah, the Ministry of Energy will continue to develop the sector to strengthen the country’s economy and while maximizing job opportunities for locals.
