We thank Dr. Md Majdey Zawawi for delivering the Maqasid Syariah Talk and sharing his insights with us. During the session, we explored how the principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah The Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam (PA) recently hosted a Maqasid Syariah Talk delivered by Dr. Md Majdey Zawawi, who shared valuable insights on how Islamic principles can guide ethical decision-making within modern organisations.
During the session, Dr. Md Majdey emphasised the relevance of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah—the higher objectives of Islamic law—in cultivating purpose-driven actions and strengthening alignment with PA’s Core Values. Participants explored how these principles can reinforce a culture of integrity, responsibility, and ethical conduct across all levels of the organisation.
The session also introduced the Amanah Ecosystem and the FAST Integrity Model, presented as practical frameworks to build trust, enhance accountability, and embed values-based behaviour throughout PA’s daily operations.
By applying these values and tools in our work and interactions, PA staff continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity—both individually and collectively—as the organisation advances its mission in the national energy sector.
