Throughout the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (Brunei MYCE 2022) Energy Week from 15th until 18th June 2022 at International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas, Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam (PA) participated in the exhibition to educate and create awareness on its regulatory roles in the upstream and downstream sector. Several activities were lined up including Photo Hunt Challenge as well as Oil and Gas Trivia.

One of the main highlights were the PA Coffee Chat sessions. Conducted daily throughout the 4-day event at the Energy Pavillion, Plenary Hall, invited guests shared series of topics as part of social learning, networking and exchanging of views and ideas.

The first session started with Dayang Rodziah binti Haji Adnan from Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, and Dr Stefan Godeke from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, who discussed on environmental sustainability solutions for a greener future. This was followed by sharing session from Dayang Nani Latif and Awang Haji Yusrin Salleh from Perdana Solutions Sdn Bhd, that touched on ‘Potential of Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) in Energy Transition’ that was inspired by the urgency and opportunities linked to decarbonizing the energy sector and the solutions to the business on carbon capture and storage.

In another session, Fatin Ariffin from Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei Darussalam and Siti Noraspadiyah, Co-Founder of Young Professionals Network Brunei who shared the ingredients behind being a successful youth leaders as they play significant roles in contributing towards the community. Awg Iswandy bin Ahmad from Perspective Insan Academy and Awang Haji Kula bin Haji Metasan from PA also exchanged views on upskilling and reskilling that are key to future-proofing the skill with the audiences.

The visitors also had the opportunity to interact in person with invited speakers for the Energy Symposium and Energy Seminar, Ms. Rachel Calvert from S&P Global and Dr Chan Yanjun from International SOS, Malaysia.

Known for their social media presence and expertise, social media influencers Awang Rano Iskandar from Ranoadidas.com and Awang Gzul Yusof, expressed their advice on boosting social media contents and presence for organisation or own social media platform, how to make a big impact, the challenges and tackling the obstacles in use of social media.

Meanwhile, Dayang Norhayati binti Dato Paduka Haji Omar from PA and Awang Reeda Malik from Print Plus Sdn Bhd shared their experience on ‘Career Transitions: Life Stories for Industry Professionals’ with the challenges they have faced, the motivation behind the change and the sacrifices they made to overcome the obstacles.

Talk on the Brunei Economic Outlook: Oil and Gas Industry was presented by Dr Wee Chian Koh, Centre for Strategic & Policy Studies and Awang Rady Roswanddy bin Haji Roslan from PA on the last day of the exhibition. Both tapped on their knowledge and experience on the economic outlook in the oil and gas industry.

To end the PA Coffee Chat sessions, Pg Hajah Adimasyaton binti Pg Haji Omar Ali from PA and Ms. Chloe Liew from Schlumberger shared their strategies, experiences and personal growth as dynamic women leaders in the oil and gas industry.
